Meet the artist
I'm Taylor,
and this is my
recent story.
I am both self-taught artist and have taken a handful of art classes through high school and college. However, I do not have a degree in art. I studied economics and currently pay my bills through working in retail.
I have stopped defining myself by what I do for work and am choosing to define myself as an artist. Not because I make a living off of art, because it's what makes me happy and I enjoy the process of creating.
I work mostly with acrylics on canvas. If you had to put me in a box, impressionism and abstract are my two main styles of art. I am inspired by nature, the human body, human portraits and am trying my hand at pet portraits.
One of the main reasons I work in impressionism and abstract is because of a hand tremor I have and have always had. It makes it nearly impossible to paint realism. Abstract has become a more recent expression of mine. After leaving a 10-year relationship and my dog getting diagnosed with cancer, I just needed to throw paint on a canvas and try to stop overthinking and controlling everything. I just needed to get out the array of emotions inside me. I am slowly going back to surrealism. I plan to go back to my bodies series, do more landscapes and more pet/human portraits.
